[Financial News] A teenage high school student taking photos at a multi-family home in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, fell from the third floor. The student landed on a car parked on the ground and, by a stroke of luck, survived.
Seohae-gu Office and others said on the 28th that at around 4:40 p.m. the previous day, the 27th, A, a teenage boy, fell to the ground from a three-story multi-family home in Dunpo-myeon, Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
A fell onto the roof of a passenger car parked below the building. He sustained injuries to his head and legs, among other areas, and was taken to a nearby hospital by 119 emergency paramedics who responded to the scene. He is receiving treatment. Fortunately, the car roof absorbed some of the impact, and his injuries were not life-threatening. The impact dented and damaged parts of the car, including its roof.
A reportedly told fire officials, “I lost my footing and fell while taking a selfie (a photo of myself) on the rooftop.”
Fire authorities and relevant agencies are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and whether safety facilities had been installed at the scene, based on statements from A and witnesses.
Meanwhile, there have recently been repeated cases in which people recklessly approached dangerous places such as rooftop ledges, cliffs, and railway tracks to take photos for smartphones or social media, leading to accidents involving casualties, prompting calls for special caution.
Experts urged people to make safety their top priority in places where there is a risk of falling, such as near ledges or at high elevations, since focusing solely on the screen while taking photos can make it difficult to notice hazards nearby.
