[Financial News] ITIIS is joining forces with a biotechnology company and a medical research support organization to develop precision cancer diagnosis technology using artificial intelligence (AI).
ITIIS said on the 28th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with K-Blue Bio and the Advanced Precision Medicine Industrialization Support Center to jointly develop an AI solution for cancer diagnosis. The plan is to connect medical data analysis, genomic research and validation infrastructure to increase the potential for commercializing research results.
At the heart of the collaboration is ITIIS’s medical AI platform, GENAI ME. It will be combined with K-Blue Bio’s technologies for blood cancer genomic analysis and biomarker research, as well as the Center’s infrastructure supporting research, validation and commercialization.
The three organizations will jointly pursue research on cancer diagnosis and prediction models, along with blood cancer genomic analysis and biomarker discovery and validation. Their collaboration will also include developing technologies to integrate and standardize medical data, establishing systems for using clinical and nonclinical research data, and validating and commercializing precision medicine solutions.
Through the agreement, ITIIS plans to expand the areas in which medical AI is used, from data processing to genomic interpretation and the development of diagnostic and predictive models.
Recently launched, GENAI ME is an AI platform that supports clinical research based on real-world evidence (RWE). It integrates various types of medical data, including electronic medical records (EMRs), clinical data warehouses (CDWs), DNA and RNA, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and medical images, and structures unstructured data into analyzable formats. It is designed to support the development of patient-specific treatment strategies, clinical decision-making and the generation of RWE.
ITIIS is also drawing on its experience carrying out national research projects. In partnership with Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, the company is working on the K-HOPE (Korean-Style Blood Cancer Precision Medicine Platform) project and building a clinical research and precision medicine platform using real-world data (RWD) from Korean cancer patients.
K-Blue Bio, a partner in the collaboration, is a precision medicine company that conducts precision genomic diagnostics for blood cancers, NGS-based molecular diagnostics and disease biomarker research. The Advanced Precision Medicine Industrialization Support Center leverages the research infrastructure of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital to support advanced medical technology development and validation, as well as links to commercialization. It was recently designated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a good laboratory practice (GLP) nonclinical testing institution in the pharmaceutical sector.
Lee Seong-nam, CEO of ITIIS, said, “Building on this collaboration, we will expand the scope of medical AI applications and give concrete shape to business opportunities in precision medicine,” adding, “We will work with our partners and institutions on development and commercialization so that the results of our joint research can evolve into solutions that can be used in medical settings.”
