[Financial News] Lotte Innovate is expanding its technology cooperation into the AI-connected-car sector and stepping up growth in its future mobility business.
Lotte Innovate said on the 28th that it had signed an MOU on cooperation in AI-connected-car technology development and the establishment of a future mobility hub in Incheon at the 2026 Connected Mobility Alliance General Meeting held at Paradise City in Incheon on the 27th. Its strategy is to broaden its growth base—from technology development to demonstration and commercialization at home and abroad—drawing on its business capabilities built up in autonomous driving and intelligent transportation infrastructure.
The agreement was joined by 12 organizations and companies, including Incheon Metropolitan City and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH), as well as Lotte Innovate, Hyundai Mobis, LG Innotek, Hyundai Kefico, Intellian Technologies, HL Klemove, Tmap Mobility Co., Ltd., SOLiD, AutoCrypt and PESCARO. Yoon Tae-eun, head of the Mobility Division, attended on behalf of Lotte Innovate.
The signatories will collaborate on △joint responses and project planning for innovation initiatives in AI-connected-car technology development △fostering the AI-connected mobility industry △establishing a key hub for the AI-connected mobility industry in Cheongna. They plan to seek opportunities for joint research and development and lay the groundwork for future commercialization by building a related industrial ecosystem.
Lotte Innovate plans to apply the technological capabilities and operational experience it has gained through existing businesses—including autonomous-driving shuttles, next-generation intelligent transportation systems (C-ITS) and AI smart tolling—to this collaboration. In particular, it aims to identify new business opportunities by extending to the AI-connected-car sector its technological capabilities in connecting vehicles, road infrastructure and transportation services.
Building on the technology and operational experience it has accumulated in South Korea, Lotte Innovate plans to improve the commercialization prospects of demonstration projects while also pursuing entry into overseas infrastructure markets and developing next-generation technologies. Through these efforts, it aims to expand its business, traditionally centered on transportation infrastructure, into AI-based future mobility and strengthen its medium- to long-term growth drivers.
Yoon Tae-eun, head of the Mobility Division at Lotte Innovate, said, “The competitiveness of the future mobility market lies not in individual technologies alone, but in the ability to seamlessly connect vehicles, transportation infrastructure and services, and commercialize that integration. Through this agreement, we will strengthen the foundation for technology development in the AI-connected-car sector and expand cooperation so that it leads to new business opportunities at home and abroad and tangible revenue growth.”
