[Financial News] LS ELECTRIC Co., Ltd. will showcase next-generation power grid technologies, from high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission for sending large amounts of electricity over long distances to DC power distribution for AI data centers.
LS ELECTRIC Co., Ltd. said on the 28th that it will participate in the Bitgaram International Electric Power Technology Expo (BIXPO) 2026, to be held November 4–6 at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju.
The company will set up a 108-square-meter exhibition hall under the theme “Intelligent Power Grids Leading the AI Era.” It will showcase HVDC and AI data center power solutions, E-STATCOM, and the locally developed energy management system K-EMS, among other offerings.
HVDC technology will be at the heart of the exhibition. It converts the large amounts of electricity generated at power plants into direct current for long-distance transmission. Because it is well suited to transmitting large volumes of electricity over long distances, it is used to expand power grids and connect renewable energy sources.
LS ELECTRIC Co., Ltd. has built up relevant technology and project execution experience through the construction of HVDC conversion facilities between Bukdangjin and Godeok and its participation in the East Coast–Capital Region HVDC project. Based on this experience, the company plans to pursue the supply of key equipment, including converter transformers (C-TR), for national grid construction projects such as the West Coast Energy Highway.
The AI data center zone will be designed to let visitors experience changes in power infrastructure, from conventional AC-based power supply systems to next-generation 800V DC distribution. The exhibition will cover both long-distance transmission and power distribution inside data centers, illustrating the range of applications for DC technology.
The E-STATCOM zone will introduce power system stabilization solutions that maintain voltage stability even amid sharp load fluctuations. The smart grid zone will showcase the company’s experience and technology in localizing K-EMS, a large-scale power system operation system. Building on this, LS ELECTRIC Co., Ltd. is also pursuing expansion into overseas smart grid markets, including those in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
An LS ELECTRIC Co., Ltd. representative said, “HVDC is a core technology for the future national power grid, enabling it to respond to the expansion of renewable energy and the rapid growth in electricity demand in the AI era. Drawing on our experience as the only company in Korea to have carried out current-source HVDC projects, and on our accumulated technological capabilities, we will strengthen the competitiveness of homegrown HVDC technology and play a key role in upgrading national power infrastructure, including the West Coast Energy Highway.”
