[Financial News] Police will seek arrest warrants for two men arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body in a residential area of Guro-gu, Seoul, or ordering its disposal.
According to police on the 28th, Seoul Guro Police Station plans to seek arrest warrants after further investigation into a man in his 60s, identified as A, who is suspected of abandoning a body, and a man in his 80s, identified as B, who is suspected of instigating the offense.
Police completed an initial round of questioning after urgently arresting the two men one after the other at around 4 p.m. the previous day in Guro-dong, Guro-gu.
During questioning, B admitted that he had instructed A to dispose of an item, but claimed that he had not known it was a body. A said that he had suspected it might be a body while disposing of it, but had only followed B’s instructions.
Police believe A abandoned the body on the 22nd and that B had instructed him to do so.
The two had known each other until recently, having met long ago as tenant and landlord, and police believe B was the landlord of a multi-family house in Guro-gu.
At around 11 a.m. the previous day, an environmental sanitation worker employed by the Guro-gu Office found the body near a garbage disposal site in a residential area of Guro-gu and reported it to police.
The body was reportedly left for five days, wrapped in plastic and newspaper. It was reportedly already showing some decomposition and drying when it was found.
Police believe the victim had been dead for more than a month. An examination indicated that the victim was likely male, but the victim’s age and nationality, as well as the exact time and cause of death, have not been confirmed. Police plan to conduct an autopsy today to determine the cause of death and will continue investigating the deceased’s identity and the specific circumstances of the crime.
