[Financial News] As LG Display Co., Ltd. has expanded the large-format OLED market from TVs to gaming monitors, its cumulative sales of related products have surpassed 50 million units.
LG Display Co., Ltd. said on the 28th that cumulative WOLED sales had surpassed 50 million units since it began selling large OLED TVs in 2013.
Cumulative sales rose from 10 million units in 2020 to 20 million in 2021, 30 million in 2023 and 40 million last year, reaching 50 million units this year and adding to its sales record.
LG Display Co., Ltd. became the first in the world to mass-produce 55-inch OLED TV panels in 2013. It later expanded its product lineup by mass-producing the world’s first 88-inch 8K OLED TV panel in 2018 and the world’s largest 97-inch OLED TV panel in 2022. It currently offers a lineup of TV panels ranging from the 40-inch to the 90-inch class.
The company has also expanded its WOLED technology, developed for TVs, into gaming monitors. Leveraging fast response times, it has applied high refresh rates and DFR technology, and introduced products in a range of sizes, from 45-inch 21:9 monitors to 24.5-inch monitors for esports.
LG Display Co., Ltd. plans to extend the use of WOLED to office and professional monitors. It aims to expand the OLED market by developing products tailored to customers’ usage environments and needs.
“Surpassing 50 million WOLED units is the result of our employees’ efforts to overcome a challenging business environment and numerous difficult tasks,” said Jeong Cheol-dong, CEO of LG Display Co., Ltd. “Building on WOLED technological capabilities accumulated over 13 years and leading the industry, we will quickly take the lead in next-generation display technologies for a differentiated future beyond the present, and become a ‘technology-driven company’ that builds a ‘moat’ of technological and business competitiveness that competitors cannot easily overcome.”
