【Financial News, Jeonnam-Gwangju = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong】Kumho Tire has swept the world’s four major design awards by winning a Winner award at Japan’s Good Design Award 2026 (Good Design Award 2026). The achievement is seen as proof of the company’s global design competitiveness.
According to Kumho Tire on the 28th, the company submitted its all-season ultra-high-performance tire ‘ECSTA SPORT A/S’ to Japan’s Good Design Award 2026 and received the ‘Winner’ award.
The Good Design Award is an international design competition organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) since 1957. Along with Germany’s iF and Red Dot Design Award and the U.S.-based International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), it is considered one of the world’s four major design awards.
Kumho Tire Executive Vice President Kim Young-jin, who heads its R&D division, stressed, “Sweeping the world’s four major design awards is a meaningful achievement that recognizes globally the design capabilities Kumho Tire has built up.”
Kim Young-jin also said, “We will continue to enhance our brand value in the global market through innovative technologies and distinctive designs.”
Meanwhile, ECSTA SPORT A/S is an all-season ultra-high-performance tire designed with the characteristics of internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles in mind. Kumho Tire said it reduced driving noise by applying a textured longitudinal-groove design to the tread pattern and improved water drainage on wet roads with an extended lateral-groove design on the shoulder blocks.
It also emphasized that dynamic racing-flag graphic patterns on the sidewalls and shoulders highlight the high-performance product’s characteristics, while holographic graphics add a distinctive visual effect.
