Kumho E&C said on the 28th that it had held the “SAFETY ARTERA Occupational Safety and Health Meeting” at its headquarters in Jongno District, Seoul, on the 27th, inviting executives from partner firms. Partners working across a range of trades, including building construction, civil engineering, mechanical services, electrical work and plant construction, attended.
At the meeting, President Jo Wan-seok personally presented commendations to three partner firms that had set an example in occupational safety and health management. The company also shared key activities and other relevant information about SAFETY ARTERA, its program for promoting shared growth in safety and health with partner firms.
Launched in October last year, the program supports efforts to strengthen partner firms’ occupational safety and health capabilities. Centered on councils of executives and working-level staff, it organizes regular seminars and specialized training and provides technical support tailored to individual worksites.
During the specialized training, Lee Du-hang, an instructor from Shinyoung Labor Law Firm, presented major cases of work-related illnesses at construction sites and prevention measures under the theme “Cases of Work-Related Illnesses and Response Measures.” Executives from partner firms also discussed on-site concerns and suggestions related to occupational safety and health, as well as ways to address them.
Kumho E&C is also strengthening digitally based safety management. Last September, for example, it filed a patent application for technology for a “Smart Safety Control System” that monitors hazardous areas in real time. The company plans to expand joint safety management activities with partner firms and continue providing on-site support.
A Kumho E&C representative said, “Safety is the top priority at construction sites and the most important source of a company’s competitiveness. We will continue to strengthen our occupational safety and health capabilities together with our partner firms through close communication and mutually beneficial cooperation, and build safe construction sites where all workers can work with peace of mind.”
