[Financial News] An exhibition offering a chance to explore contemporary Taiwanese photobooks in one place is opening in Seoul.
Fujifilm Electronic Imaging Korea said on the 28th that it will hold an exhibition of selected works from the “PHOTO GO / PAPER MATTER Photobook Award 2026” at House of Photography, a cultural complex, through November 22.
Looking beyond images to the book’s structure and reading rhythm
The exhibition features all 25 works selected in the inaugural award’s dummy book and published photobook categories. They explore a range of subjects, from intimate personal relationships and family memories to local faith, the politics of the body, queer experiences, historical landscapes and social issues. The exhibition presents photobooks both as collections of photographs and as an independent medium. Through works that consider bookbinding structures and materials, image editing, and the rhythm of readers turning pages, it shows how photobooks construct stories.
Among the participating artists is Wang Chien-Shun, who opened the photography bookstore XinTaiXing to introduce Taiwanese photo publications and explores identity through hometown as a theme. Lin Jaihang uses photography to examine queer men’s identities and intimate relationships, while Wu MeiChi uses staged photography and collage to present everyday objects as multilayered images.
Earlier, on the 24th, an opening talk was held to mark the exhibition’s launch, under the theme “The Creative Ecosystem of Taiwan’s Contemporary Photobooks.” PAPER MATTER founder Tsai Yin-chin, whose organization hosts the award, and selected artists including Ou Chia-Cheng and Wang Chien-Shun attended and spoke with visitors about how personal experiences expand into public narratives and about Taiwan’s photo publishing culture.
Supporting the creative ecosystem through photobook awards and international exchange
Fujifilm Korea continues to foster exchanges in photography culture at home and abroad, with House of Photography as its hub. Its inaugural Dummy Book Award, held this year, drew 245 entries, and 20 selected works were exhibited at House of Photography and Photofesta 2026. The works that won the grand prize and top prize are set to be published this year, with grants of 20 million won and 15 million won, respectively.Building on Photofesta, Fujifilm Korea is also continuing exchanges with the XinTaiXing photography bookstore in Taiwan and the Singapore International Photography Festival, among others. Fujifilm Korea President Im Hoon said, “Through a range of programs, including camera experiences, exhibitions and the Dummy Book Award, House of Photography serves as a key communication hub that experiments with the possibilities of the photographic medium and engages with the public.” He added, “We will continue to discover and showcase outstanding photographic work and actively support the ecosystem.”
