Assessing AI infrastructure and developing recovery plans
Dell Technologies said on the 28th that it would expand its AI security services and Dell PowerProtect features, and strengthen identity threat detection and recovery capabilities. It will also broaden integration between storage products to increase data recovery options and offer a quantum security readiness assessment service. The newly introduced Dell AI Factory Security Enhancement service helps companies securely build AI infrastructure in line with their information technology (IT) and security standards. Dell experts assess the physical, virtual and application layers, identify configuration risks that could affect AI workloads, and recommend priorities for remediation.
The “Operational Resilience for AI” service documents a company’s critical AI functions and the recovery policies and procedures designed to protect them. It also provides a plan detailing which AI applications should be protected in the event of an outage and the order in which they should be restored.
The PowerProtect AI Assistant now features an interface for managing assets, tasks, recovery status and reporting through conversational interactions. Daily briefings flag potential risks, and a process for responsible personnel to review and approve actions before they are taken helps them identify and address issues early.
Identity systems can be major targets of cyberattacks because they control access to infrastructure, data and applications. Dell’s PowerProtect Identity Recovery feature helps restore identity platforms such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Okta to a trusted state.
Stronger storage integration...Preparing for quantum security
Dell also offers its Managed Detection and Response service, which monitors identity threats around the clock. It detects suspicious authentication activity, compromised accounts and misuse of privileges. When an attack pattern is identified, Dell experts initiate automated response measures to contain the threat.Integration between storage products has also been strengthened. Dell PowerProtect and Dell PowerScale can be linked to automatically create and schedule retention-locked snapshots for recovery. The snapshots can be synchronized to Dell ObjectScale through PowerScale SmartSync, allowing additional recovery copies to be stored for the long term.
Dell has also introduced features and services to prepare for the possibility that advances in quantum computing could render current encryption technologies ineffective. The latest Dell PowerStore software applies quantum-resistant encryption to data transmitted over Fibre Channel connections. Dell said that, when used with certain PowerEdge servers, it can help protect against so-called “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, in which stolen data is stored and decrypted at a later date.
The Dell Quantum Security Readiness Assessment service identifies cryptography-related exposures across IT infrastructure and devices and helps prioritize remediation and migration work based on risk.
Yu Sang-mo, president of Dell Technologies Korea, said, “Companies are increasingly exposed to a growing number of attack surfaces, and threats are evolving rapidly. We will help customers identify threats proactively and quickly restore critical business operations while preparing for future security requirements.”
