Hyundai WIA said on the 28th that it had taken part in the International Automotive Parts Exhibition 'IZB 2026,' which opened on the 27th (local time) at the exhibition venue in Allerpark, Wolfsburg, Germany. The exhibition, hosted by Volkswagen, runs through the 29th and features 858 companies from 36 countries.
Hyundai WIA centered its booth on advanced technologies in drivetrain and thermal management for future mobility. The company said it was highlighting components that improve energy efficiency and space efficiency. It said it had taken into account the EU's continued push for electrification, including its proposed revision to cut automobile CO2 emissions by 90% from 2021 levels by 2035.
In thermal management, Hyundai WIA unveiled HVAC, a key component of a climate control system. The unit adjusts the temperature of outside air to suit conditions inside the vehicle and supplies it to the cabin. Hyundai WIA also introduced a slim HVAC unit that is shorter than existing products, improving space utilization and energy efficiency.
A cooling module consists of a condenser, radiator, cooling fan and other components, and cools air and coolant at the front of a vehicle. Hyundai WIA said it had combined two radiators, previously arranged separately, into one to reduce thickness and weight, and designed the module to cool the battery and power electronics (PE) system simultaneously.
In the drivetrain category, Hyundai WIA unveiled its Wheel Disconnect System (WDS) for electrified vehicles. The component disconnects the drive shaft from the wheel as needed to reduce unnecessary losses of driving power.
Hyundai WIA also displayed ARS, which suppresses road impacts and body roll when cornering. It also introduced a dual constant-velocity joint that connects two constant-velocity joints in series to achieve a maximum articulation angle of 60 degrees. Hyundai WIA said the joint reduces the turning radius, making U-turns in tight spaces and driving through alleyways easier.
A Hyundai WIA official said, “Our goal is to strengthen our network with European automakers, including Volkswagen, and expand opportunities to win orders through this exhibition. We will continue our research and development and sales efforts and increase orders in Europe.”
