[Financial News] The ceremony for the 34th Logistics Day will be held on the 30th at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul. It will honor people who have contributed to the development of the logistics industry and discuss strategies for responding to industry changes, including AI and the Arctic shipping route.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 28th, about 500 logistics industry figures are expected to attend the ceremony, hosted by the Korea Integrated Logistics Association. Attendees will include Jeong Ui-gyeong, the ministry’s Second Vice Minister, and Young-soo Shin, chairman of the Korea Integrated Logistics Association.
The event is divided into Part 1, the Korean Logistics Awards ceremony, and Part 2, a seminar. The awards ceremony will present a total of 58 honors: one Order of Industrial Service Merit, two Industrial Service Medals, four Presidential Commendations, six Prime Minister’s Commendations, and 45 Commendations from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The honorees include not only businesspeople and researchers but also two parcel delivery drivers and seven freight drivers who have worked in logistics for at least 10 years. Their contributions in areas including digital transformation, the establishment of fresh food logistics systems, and improvements to policies and institutions were evaluated.
Part 2 will feature three seminars under the theme “Changing Logistics, Exploring New Opportunities.” The seminars will present ways to link transportation data and optimize transport in real time using an AI agent built on at least one million real-world transportation experiences.
Participants will also share ways to address supply-chain, climate, and geopolitical risks based on measured data from the Arctic shipping route. The event will explore new logistics business opportunities while improving operational efficiency.
In congratulatory remarks, Jeong Ui-gyeong, the Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the 1.53 million people in logistics who have quietly devoted themselves on the front lines of the industry, helping the logistics industry grow rapidly to 225 trillion won in revenue.” Jeong added, “We plan to pursue a range of support measures and policy efforts to expand advanced logistics infrastructure and improve working conditions to make them safe and sustainable.”
