[Financial News] A partially mummified body was found in a residential alley in Seoul’s Guro District. Police made emergency arrests of two men in their 60s and 80s in connection with the case.
On the 27th, Seoul Guro Police Station said it had arrested the two men one after the other between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. that day. They were arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body on the 22nd. Police accused the man in his 60s of abandoning a corpse and the man in his 80s of instigating the abandonment of a corpse, respectively.
The body was found at around 11 a.m. that day at a spot in an alley in a residential neighborhood in Guro District where garbage is gathered for disposal. A municipal worker collecting trash reportedly found it and notified the police.
The body had undergone partial mummification and was reportedly wrapped in plastic and newspapers, among other things, when it was found. Police believe the person had been dead for at least a month.
Police had earlier requested an examination of the body by the National Forensic Service, and are working to determine the exact time of death based on the autopsy results.
Police found in their investigation that the two men knew each other and that the man in his 80s was the landlord of a multi-family house in Guro District. Police plan to investigate the deceased’s identity, the specific circumstances of the death, and the reasons for and circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the body through questioning the arrested suspects and conducting an autopsy.
