[Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop, Staff Writer] EuBiologics, MiCo Ceramics, Hanwha Pharmaceutical and other companies planning to invest in the province received tailored consultations in one place on every stage of the investment process, from site selection and permits to subsidies and securing personnel.
According to Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province on the 27th, the province held the Gangwon Companies 2026 Investment Promotion Briefing that day at the Industry-Academia-Research Innovation Hub on Kangwon National University’s Chuncheon campus for companies considering investing in the province, among others. About 60 people attended, including companies planning investments—EuBiologics, MiCo Ceramics and Hanwha Pharmaceutical—as well as Gangwon Technopark, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Economic Promotion Agency, and provincial and city and county officials. The province introduced its investment promotion policies and support programs run by funded institutions to promote local industries, and also held individual consultations for companies that had applied in advance.
The agencies divided responsibilities and provided information tailored to companies’ needs. The province and cities and counties provided guidance on all aspects of investment planning, including site information, permits, investment agreements, and the criteria and procedures for investment subsidies. Gangwon Technopark introduced government and provincial support programs for developing regional industries, including research and development, innovative financing such as venture funds for strategic industries, and digital transformation. The province’s Economic Promotion Agency consulted on employment support programs to address companies’ recruitment difficulties, including providing job information and developing talent to meet their needs.
In particular, the briefing focused on identifying in advance the difficulties companies face while preparing for and carrying out investments through joint consultations involving relevant agencies. The province plans to provide hands-on support so that reported difficulties can be resolved promptly through cooperation among the relevant agencies. For companies needing further advice, it will arrange connections with professional management consulting organizations after preliminary consultations, and help further develop their investment plans.
“It was an opportunity for multiple agencies to work together to remove the hurdles companies face in the investment process, from site selection and permits to subsidies and workforce issues,” said Han Yeong-seon, director of Gangwon State’s Industry Bureau. “We will follow through on the difficulties raised during consultations and, if needed, connect companies with professional consultants to help turn investments into tangible results,” he said.
