[Financial News] GC Cell is pursuing entry into the Turkish market with its immune cell therapy Immuncell-LC. It is discussing the regulatory approval procedures and commercialization plans required to introduce the medicine with local health authorities, and is also considering ways to broaden cooperation to include cell therapy manufacturing and clinical trials.
GC Cell said on the 27th that Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, President of the Turkish Health Institutes Ümit Kervan, and others visited its headquarters and Immuncell-LC manufacturing facility on the 21st. The visit was made at the request of Türkiye’s Ministry of Health.
The two sides discussed regulatory approval and commercialization cooperation for introducing Immuncell-LC in Türkiye. GC Cell presented its accumulated experience in cell therapy research and development and commercialization in Korea, as well as its manufacturing and quality control capabilities. It plans to explore the potential for local commercialization of natural killer (NK) cell therapies in the future, in addition to Immuncell-LC.
Discussions on entering the local market could expand to include investment, the establishment of manufacturing facilities, and clinical trials. However, the specific business model and timeline are expected to be determined through further discussions.
Immuncell-LC is an anticancer immune cell therapy that GC Cell commercialized after conducting clinical trials in Korea. The company is expanding into overseas markets based on its experience carrying out the entire process, from product development to production in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and commercialization. In 2024, it signed a technology transfer and licensing agreement with Indonesia’s Bio Farma for local commercialization.
GC Cell CEO Won Sung-yong said, "Alongside expanding overseas markets for Immuncell-LC, we will explore various opportunities for cooperation in the cell therapy field and continue to expand our global business base, including in Türkiye."
