[Financial News] S&C Restaurant Holdings (S&C), Chipotle’s operator in South Korea, will open the country’s second Chipotle location at Shinsegae Department Store’s Gangnam branch.
According to industry sources on the 27th, the Chipotle Gangnam Shinsegae location will begin operating on the 28th at Sweet Park, the dessert specialty hall on the first basement level of Shinsegae Department Store’s Gangnam branch in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Sweet Park, home to popular dessert brands from South Korea and abroad, is a dining destination frequented by young consumers looking to explore new flavors and culinary experiences.
The Gangnam Shinsegae location has a total of 98 seats. It retains the intuitive brand feel showcased at Chipotle’s first location in South Korea, while reflecting the character of Sweet Park, an upscale food-and-beverage curation space, to create a more refined fast-casual dining venue.
The menu will be the same as at the first location. Customers can choose from burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salads and quesadillas, then add rice, beans, a main ingredient, salsa, toppings and more to suit their tastes and create their own meal.
Chipotle has expanded its app services to reduce the burden of waiting at the restaurant. Through its official app, Chipotle Korea, customers can place an order before visiting and pick it up at the designated time from the pickup counter.
The first 150 customers to visit the restaurant on opening day will receive a Chipotle key ring.
Last month, Chipotle opened its first location in South Korea, the Chipotle Gangnam-daero location, which was also its first in Asia.
An S&C spokesperson said, “We will continue working to introduce Chipotle to more customers and to keep growing the brand in the Asian market.”
S&C is a joint venture established by Big Bite Company, an affiliate of Sangmidang Holdings, and Chipotle.
