[Financial News] A system will be established under which the Expedited Permitting Support Center will notify real estate development project operators or local government heads of the results of its assistance within 45 days if they request help interpreting laws and regulations related to permits or support with consultations.
On the 27th, the government deliberated and approved a total of 14 items at the 46th Cabinet meeting, chaired by President Lee Jae-myung: four bills, four draft presidential decrees and six general agenda items.
The partial amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Management of Real Estate Development Projects, passed that day, specifies the composition and operation of the Expedited Permitting Support Center, as well as its procedures for handling requests, to support the expedited granting of approvals and permits for real estate development projects.
Project operators or local government heads may ask the center for support with consultations on the interpretation of laws and regulations related to approvals and permits, or on permitting procedures and details. The center is required to notify applicants of the results of its assistance within 45 days of receiving an application. This sets a deadline for the legal interpretation and consultation support needed during the permitting process.
The amendment also sets out criteria for designating and revoking the designation of specialized institutions that support the center’s work. The government classified the amendment as legislation related to the national task of “Expanding Housing Supply to Stabilize the Housing Market.”
The Act on the Management of Real Estate Development Projects, which provides the legal basis for establishing the center, was promulgated on May 12 and will take effect on November 13.
The Cabinet meeting also approved the Second Basic Plan for Infrastructure Management, aimed at systematically managing national infrastructure such as roads and ports.
This statutory basic plan, which applies from 2026 through 2030, sets out key priorities including strengthening safety management systems, carrying out proactive maintenance and promoting advanced technologies. It covers 15 types of national infrastructure, including roads, railways, airports, ports and fishing ports, water supply and sewage systems, electricity and gas facilities, and rivers and dams.
