[Financial News]  Established in 1997, the Civil Service and Volunteer Award marks its 30th anniversary this year. Over the past 30 years, 430 people, including public officials and Nonghyup employees who contributed to resolving civil complaints and improving administrative services, have received the award.
MOIS said on the 27th that it had held an event marking the 30th anniversary of the Civil Service and Volunteer Award at the Government Sejong Convention Center.
The Civil Service and Volunteer Award is jointly hosted by MOIS and SBS and sponsored by Nonghyup. Each year, it has selected and honored local government officials and Nonghyup employees who have actively worked to resolve civil complaints or contributed to improving the civil complaint administration system.
Around 100 people attended the event that day, including MOIS Vice Minister Kim Min-jae, the CEO of Nonghyup Mutual Finance, the head of SBS's Business Bureau, past award recipients and officials from cities and provinces across the country. Park Seung-sun, a former official at Sancheong County Office in South Gyeongsang Province and the first recipient of the award in 1997, was also in attendance.
A commemorative video featuring the recipients' activities and examples of volunteer service over the past 30 years was shown at the event. Commendations were presented to SBS, Nonghyup employees and the Civil Service and Volunteer Award Association for their contributions to the development of civil complaint administration and the spread of a culture of volunteerism.
Singer Sheon delivered a special lecture on “The Power of Sustainable Volunteering and Sharing in Everyday Life.” Sheon has continued various philanthropic activities, including the construction of Korea's first long-term care hospital for people with ALS.
Vice Minister Kim said, “The 30th anniversary of the Civil Service and Volunteer Award is a meaningful occasion to see how a culture of sharing and service has taken root in our society, beyond simply marking the passage of time. I will continue to provide every possible support so that public officials handling civil complaints can take pride in their work and provide the public with the best possible service.”
