[Financial News] After providing care services to about 33,000 older adults living alone over the 10 years since 2017, SK Innovation has resumed its wellness camp for care workers. Marking the 10th anniversary of “Sharing Happiness, Connecting Love,” it offered programs for psychological recovery and recharging to 50 people, including daily-life support workers and social workers.
SK Innovation said on the 27th that it had held its wellness camp, “Caring for Care,” for 50 care workers, including daily-life support workers for older adults living alone and social workers, at Arcadia at Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts in Gwangjin District, Seoul, over two days starting on the 26th.
SK Innovation organized the event in consideration of rising demand for care due to population aging and the workload of care workers. This year’s wellness camp featured various programs on the themes of caring for the mind, restoring body and mind, and making new commitments.
A SK Innovation representative said, “To make care for older adults living alone more sustainable, it is also important to show concern for and support the workers serving on the ground,” adding, “SK Innovation plans to continue strengthening its protection system for older adults living alone and building an even more robust social safety net.”
South Korea became a super-aged society in December 2024, when people aged 65 and over made up more than 20% of the population. SK Innovation has carried out care activities for older adults living alone since 2017. Through this year, about 25,000 SK Innovation employee volunteers and about 10,000 daily-life support workers for older adults living alone have taken part, providing economic, emotional and social care to about 33,000 older adults living alone.
