[Financial News] Woori Investment & Securities has volunteered to serve free meals to vulnerable members of the local community. The company also delivered bread made at a standard workplace for people with disabilities, adding to the spirit of sharing.
Woori Investment & Securities said on the 27th that its employees had volunteered at Thomas’s House, a free meal center in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 23rd.
Thomas’s House provides free lunches to homeless people, people with disabilities and seniors aged 60 and older. Employees of Woori Investment & Securities who visited the site that day helped run the meal service, from serving food and washing dishes to cleaning up after the meal.
The company also provided 500 servings of bread made by Bear Better, a standard workplace for people with disabilities, along with the meals. While helping provide meals for vulnerable groups, it also supported the independence of people with disabilities by purchasing products from a company that employs them.
Members of Woori Investment & Securities’ in-house volunteer group Irowoori took part in the service. Irowoori continues to organize employee-participation social contribution activities, including delivering briquettes, sharing kimchi and painting murals.
A Woori Investment & Securities representative said, “We hope this activity will offer our neighbors in need a little comfort and strength, along with a warm meal,” and added, “We will continue to carefully look out for neighbors in need throughout the local community and be a securities firm that puts the values of sharing and mutual growth into practice.”
A financial investment industry representative said, “Having employees take part in on-site volunteering and purchasing products from companies that employ people with disabilities can broaden the reach of social contribution efforts,” adding, “It is important to continue these activities and provide practical help to the local community.”
