[Financial News] Global pet food company Royal Canin Korea delivered approximately 8 tons of pet food to shelters for abandoned animals through various donation campaigns for the 2nd Animal Protection Day.
Royal Canin Korea said on the 27th that the donation was made through online and offline campaigns that pet owners and members of the public could take part in as part of their daily lives. The pet food, collected through a program that set aside a certain amount each time participants bought products, went running, or joined an experiential program, was delivered to shelters for abandoned animals and other facilities.
First, from the 28th of last month through the 4th of this month, the company ran the “Naver Pet Treats X Animal Protection Day” donation campaign on Naver’s official brand store. For each eligible product purchased during the campaign, Royal Canin donated 1 kg of pet food, raising more than 5 tons in total. The food was delivered on the 7th to KARA The Bom Center, a comprehensive pet welfare facility, and Nabiya Saranghae, a shelter for abandoned cats.
The company also took part in a campaign commemorating Animal Protection Day, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Royal Canin Korea was the sole official sponsor from the private sector of “Keomeong Any Run,” a nationwide running and donation campaign. For every participant who ran 10.04 km, symbolizing Animal Protection Day, and submitted proof of completion, the company donated 1 kg of pet food.
The company also held a donation event at “Today, an Angel (10.04),” a pop-up store commemorating Animal Protection Day that ran for four days from the 2nd of this month in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong neighborhood. Each time a visitor completed the stepper challenge at the “1004 Donation House” inside the venue, 1 kg of pet food was added to the total.
Through participatory programs such as the running campaign and pop-up store, Royal Canin Korea collected at least 2,008 kg of pet food. That is twice the 1,004 kg symbolizing Animal Protection Day and double last year’s amount. The pet food was delivered to shelters for abandoned animals, including the Gangdong Reborn Center, Yeoju Companion Animal Maru, and Haman Gilcheonsa.
Lee Su-ran, team leader of external affairs at Royal Canin Korea, said, “The enthusiastic response and participation many pet owners have shown to the idea that their everyday pet food purchases can lead to donations have been a great source of strength. We will continue a variety of activities so that we can build together, in our daily lives, ‘a better world for pets.’”
