[Financial News] Hanpass, a financial platform for foreigners, has joined the “Finance That Saves Lives” relay campaign to prevent harm from illegal private lending among financially vulnerable groups, including foreign residents in Korea.
According to the financial industry on the 27th, Lee Geun-ju, CEO of Hanpass, joined the campaign, organized by the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, after being nominated by Jeon Chan-woo, CEO of Korea Investment Savings Bank.
Launched in July, the campaign aims to prevent harm from illegal private lending and raise awareness of the role of institutional finance. Participants post photos confirming their participation and other content on social media (SNS), then nominate the next participant.
Lee said, “It is also the role of financial companies to ensure that financially vulnerable groups, including foreign residents in Korea who can easily be excluded from financial information because of language and institutional barriers, are not exposed to illegal private lending.” He added, “We will create an environment where people can access safe and transparent financial services.”
Hanpass provides services including international remittances, prepaid cards and payments, and multilingual consultations. Lee nominated Kim Jong-hyun, CEO of COOCON, and Lee Hyo-jin, CEO of Eight Percent, as the next participants in the campaign.
Hanpass overhauled its mobile app on the 15th and expanded its financial and lifestyle services for foreigners. It added features for transportation, job searches and recruitment, and grocery shopping to its existing international remittance and card and payment services, and plans to expand its business into areas such as credit loans exclusively for foreigners.
