[Financial News] Lotte Department Store will exclusively present in Korea an exhibition marking the 90th anniversary of the founding of Japan’s Yoshida & Co., which operates the global bag brand Porter (PORTER).
According to industry sources on the 27th, Lotte Department Store will hold the exhibition celebrating Yoshida & Co.’s 90th anniversary at the art hall on the sixth floor of Jamsil Avenuel from the 31st through the 15th of next month. It will be the first art collaboration exhibition in 10 years since Porter entered Korea in 2016.
This special exhibition will be held in only two cities worldwide: Seoul and Tokyo. Expanding on an exhibition that ran for four days in Tokyo late last year, it will be presented in Seoul for about two weeks. The exhibition will feature a range of content, including limited-edition products available only at Jamsil and interactive programs with Korean artists.
The exhibition focuses on highlighting Yoshida & Co.’s philosophy of viewing bags not simply as fashion items but as “tools that accompany everyday life.” Built on ongoing research into materials and production methods, Yoshida & Co. is a brand that has upheld craftsmanship for 90 years. Centered on Porter, its flagship brand, the exhibition will explore the brand’s history and design philosophy through a range of artistic content.
Titled “Everyday Is a New Beginning,” the exhibition is organized into three sections spanning the past, present and future. The “Past” section looks back at the histories of Yoshida & Co. and Porter through early products, while the “Present” section showcases the brand’s design and technical expertise, focusing on Porter’s signature TANKER series. In the “Future” section, contemporary artists present paintings, digital video works and other pieces that reinterpret the brand’s past and present.
“More brands are using art as a medium for communication to strengthen customer relationships,” said Kim Gyeong-yun, head of Lotte Department Store’s Art Content Team. “We plan to continue offering distinctive art-content experiences through a range of partnerships.”
