“I was trying to keep it quiet...” Shin Min-a and Kim Woo-bin’s combined donations top 5 billion won

[Financial News] Actress Shin Min-a, who has continued donating over the years, shared her thoughts on her cumulative donations surpassing 5 billion won.
In a teaser video posted on the official social media account for tvN’s You Quiz on the Block on the 26th, Shin Min-a spoke about her charitable work in response to host Yoo Jae-suk’s question about donations. “When I first started donating, I thought good deeds should be done quietly,” she said. “I’ve donated consistently every year, hoping to help people who are less likely to receive support.”
Yoo Jae-suk said, “I heard that the couple’s combined donations alone exceed 5 billion won,” and added, “These days, it’s important to let more people know about things like this.” He could not hide his admiration.
“I sometimes receive letters telling me what has been done with the donations, and I’m so proud that they’ve made a meaningful and valuable difference,” Shin Min-a said. “I think consistency and the intention behind it matter regardless of the amount. I’d be grateful if seeing me inspired someone to want to join in donating.”
Shin Min-a is well known as one of the entertainment industry’s leading “donation angels.” She has continued donating consistently for 15 years since 2009, and her cumulative donations are reported to have exceeded 4 billion won. Her husband, Kim Woo-bin, also began donating anonymously in 2014 to support teenagers from low-income families, and has continued to help pediatric cancer patients and people affected by COVID-19, wildfires and floods. The couple also made headlines for donating 300 million won on their wedding day.
