[Financial News] Lotte Group will hold an AI competition linked to recruitment to secure hands-on talent with artificial intelligence (AI) skills.
According to industry sources on the 27th, Lotte will accept applications for the preliminary round of the 'LOTTE AX Challenge 2026' from the 28th through the 4th of next month. This is the first time Lotte has held an AI competition linked to recruitment at the group level.
Seven affiliates will take part in the competition: Lotte Wellfood, Lotte Chilsung Beverage, Lotte Chemical, Lotte Home Shopping, Lotte Hotel, LOTTE INNOVATE and Korea Fujifilm. OpenAI will provide technical support, including an environment for developing AI agents, and will also take part in judging.
Anyone with the skills to plan and develop AI agents may participate, regardless of educational background or age. Those wishing to enter can choose one of the seven challenges set by the participating affiliates and submit a proposal outlining a solution, along with a portfolio.
The final round will be held over two days and one night, from the 24th to the 25th of next month, at the Osan Campus of the Lotte Human Resources Development Institute. Finalists will develop actual AI agents based on the proposals they submitted in the preliminary round. Judging will focus on the suitability of the proposed solutions, the completeness of the AI agents and the participants' ability to use AI technology.
The seven final winners will receive a total of 20 million won in prize money. In addition, applicants to Lotte Group's hands-on recruitment program, the 'I'M (I'm Mania) track,' will be eligible for an internship with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment.
A Lotte representative said, "As AI technology establishes itself as a core competitive advantage, it is becoming increasingly important to secure AI talent proactively. We will continue to actively support outstanding AI talent so they can grow into key people who will lead Lotte's AX."
