[Financial News] In response to a Japanese investment group's announcement that it would pursue a tender offer for a stake in JYP Entertainment, JYP said, "We have not received any acquisition-related proposal," denying the claim.
JYP Entertainment said in a statement late on the 26th, "Regarding the matter reported today, we would like to state that we have not received any proposal related to the acquisition of a stake in our company."
YTN previously reported that The Nexrock (NEXROC) Group, a Japanese investment group, and SVCV Corporation had issued a press release saying they were reviewing a process to acquire JYP, with the aim of launching a tender offer on the 20th of next month.
The acquisition target is 25–50% of JYP's issued shares, a stake exceeding the combined holdings of JYP Chief Creative Officer Park Jin-young and related parties, which are in the 15% range.
The two companies were reportedly considering a tender offer at a price carrying a 30% premium to the reference share price, with details such as how that price would be calculated and the final offer price to be determined later. JYP, however, dismissed the takeover rumors.
After the report, JYP shares climbed as high as 44,000 won at one point during after-hours trading on the Korea Exchange (KRX). They closed at 42,150 won, up 14.38% from the previous close.
