Famous girl-group member who won a “4-billion-won lottery” apartment subscription spotted at complex

[Financial News] IVE member An Yujin, 23, reportedly won a “lottery-style” apartment subscription, and an account of her being spotted at the apartment has drawn attention.
A video was recently posted on the YouTube channel of Park Eun-young, a broadcaster and former announcer, showing her visiting an acquaintance’s home in THE H Bangbae in Seoul’s Seocho District.
In the video, Park asked her acquaintance, “Is An Yujin living here now?” The acquaintance replied, “I saw her yesterday.”
The acquaintance explained, however, that An Yujin does not live there herself and that it seems her parents came to live there.
THE H Bangbae is an apartment complex that went on general sale in 2024. News that An Yujin had won an apartment through the housing subscription system only emerged belatedly last July.
The specific unit size she won has not been confirmed, but the maximum sale price for a unit with an exclusive-use area of 84 square meters was 2.243 billion won. Units of the same size are currently listed at around 4 billion won, prompting assessments that a substantial capital gain could be expected. The complex also drew attention because the price ceiling system meant it was offered at prices below those of nearby properties.
Some also criticized the purpose and fairness of the housing subscription system.
The question was whether it was appropriate for celebrities who already have considerable financial means to benefit from a system designed to guarantee non-homeowners with genuine housing needs the opportunity to secure a home.
Others, however, argued that since eligibility to apply and whether an applicant wins must be determined according to the relevant regulations, the purpose of the system and individuals’ eligibility should be considered separately.
In response, her agency, Starship Entertainment, said, “Please understand that this is a personal matter and is difficult to confirm.”
Meanwhile, An Yujin debuted as a member of the project group IZ*ONE in 2018 through Mnet’s audition program Produce 48. She has been the leader of IVE since 2021.
She has also gained popularity with standout performances on various variety shows, including tvN’s Earth Arcade.
