People Power Party Supreme Council member Kim Min-soo strongly criticized the government’s security response, pointing to North Korean hackers’ infiltration of domestic private companies and their practice of obtaining jobs under false identities.
At the party’s Supreme Council meeting on the 26th, Supreme Council member Kim said, “Young people in South Korea are now facing a situation in which they have to compete for jobs with North Korean spies,” adding, “North Korean hackers have reached the stage of getting jobs at private companies in South Korea under false identities, going through interviews and being hired.”
He went on to say, “On the 15th, I commented on North Korean hackers’ infiltration of overseas companies and warned about the security of our companies,” adding, “In just about 10 days, that warning has become reality, not fiction.”
Kim stressed that such attempts by North Korea are going beyond simple hacking and leading to threats to national security.
He said, “Key technologies and internal information from companies are being transferred to North Korea, and the money earned this way comes back to us in the form of nuclear weapons and missiles that will attack us,” adding, “The North Korean military is no longer just crossing barbed-wire fences; it is also eyeing the job market.”
He then stepped up his criticism of the government, saying, “North Korea’s infiltration techniques are evolving day by day, while South Korea’s national security keeps moving backward, even today.”
He then directly targeted President Lee Jae Myung, saying, “If the burden of the crown is too much to bear, stepping down may also be an answer,” and urged, “Lee Jae Myung’s trial should be resumed.”
