[Financial News] YIDO TerraOne, a company specializing in AI-based infrastructure, is joining forces with Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. to pursue the joint development of large-scale renewable energy projects, including offshore wind power in Incheon.
YIDO TerraOne announced on the 26th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. on the 23rd at the latter’s headquarters in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, for the joint development of renewable energy.
Key officials, including Yoon Jang-hyeon, head of the New Growth Division at Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd., and YIDO TerraOne CEO Jeong Jong-chan, attended the signing ceremony. The agreement was drawn up to support the successful development of the 435-MW Incheon EcoWind offshore wind project, planned about 40 km offshore to the west of Gureopdo Island in Ongjin County, Incheon, and to expand the deployment of renewable energy in Korea and build a strategic partnership.
The two companies plan to broaden their cooperation beyond this joint offshore wind development to all areas of renewable energy, including onshore and offshore wind, solar power, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Expectations are particularly high for synergies between Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd., with its expertise in building and operating large-scale power plants, and YIDO TerraOne, which has full-cycle development capabilities in AI-based infrastructure, including solar power, BESS, and data centers.
YIDO TerraOne plans to use this partnership to expand its value chain beyond renewable energy development and financing, and asset management (AMC, PM, and CM), into the distribution and installation of key power equipment and the development of energy ICT systems for monitoring, control, and communications, thereby increasing its corporate value.
Jeong Jong-chan, CEO of YIDO TerraOne, said, “Drawing on our experience in the full-cycle development of AI-based infrastructure, we will work closely with Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. to contribute to the growth of Korea’s renewable energy industry and the development of its supply chain.”
Yoon Jang-hyeon, head of the New Growth Division at Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd., said, “Our cooperation with YIDO TerraOne, which has integrated infrastructure development capabilities, will be a key driver in achieving the ‘Namdong Energy New Road 2040’ vision of transitioning at least 70% of power generation facilities to renewable energy.” He added, “Through rigorous safety management and mutually beneficial relationships with local communities, we will create a model of public-private cooperation that sets the highest standard.”
