[Financial News] From long plaid jackets to hooded jackets and shirts, the same pattern took on a different feel depending on how it was worn. Illit’s comeback showcase for its fifth mini-album, ‘Break Even (BREAK EVEN),’ released on the 26th, showed the many sides of plaid. The members added a witty twist to neat outfits evocative of school uniforms and office wear with unexpected details.
Plaid: This Fall’s Fashion Keyword

Illit held a media showcase at Woori WON Banking Hall, Blue Square, in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, that day, and unveiled a performance of the title track from its fifth mini-album, ‘I’ll Arrest You.’ Lim YoonA, Minju, Wonhee and Iroha showed off their distinct personalities against a calm palette of fall colors.
Lim YoonA paired a long plaid jacket with short shorts in the same pattern. Thick-rimmed glasses added an intellectual air, while the contrast between the long jacket and short bottoms lent the look a playful touch.
Minju wore a cream short-sleeved shirt with a black knee-length skirt. A long, loosely hanging tie with diagonal stripes anchored the polished office look. She added a skirt that revealed its white inner side as if the waistband had been folded down, along with a card reminiscent of an employee ID, giving a subtle twist to smart workwear.
Wonhee loosely wore a gray skirt with deep pleats over a plaid hooded jacket. The white inner layer visible between the cropped jacket and pleated skirt evoked the hip-hop style of ‘sagging,’ in which pants are worn low on the hips. The styling also nodded to the trend of underwear as outerwear, adding a touch of rebellion to a neat school look.
Iroha paired beige pants with a blue plaid shirt layered under a dark navy, V-neck, short-sleeved knit, creating a relaxed look. Metal ring details at the waist and black leather gloves added accents evocative of a black-clad operative.
Their approach to plaid also reflects this fall’s fashion trends. Fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar previously noted that plaid was reinterpreted in an array of colors and materials in the 2026 fall/winter collections. The defining feature of the season, it said, was reworking a familiar pattern to create different moods.
A Serious Mission? A Dash of Quirkiness

These outfits also echo the bold attitude and slightly offbeat mood of the new release. Now in its third year since debuting, Illit sang in its debut song ‘Magnetic’ about feeling drawn to someone it liked like a magnet, and in ‘Cherish’ about valuing its own feelings first, even while wondering how the other person felt. After being candid about their excitement and boldly pursuing the people they liked, the members have now chosen to put an end to one-sided relationships.
‘Break Even’ is an album in which those who had pursued someone they liked head-on realize their feelings were one-sided and declare that they will no longer pour time and emotion into a relationship that leaves them at a loss.
The title track ‘I’ll Arrest You’ is electro-pop that warns someone whose habitual kindness led the singer to get the wrong idea. A buoyant whistle, sharp synths and punchy vocal effects vividly convey anger. The lyrics cite the other person’s actions as evidence and shout, “You’re already guilty,” capturing the bold resolve to end an unrequited crush.
The music video offers a different side of Illit from the plaid looks at the showcase. Transformed into agents dressed in black, the members track down someone who disappears after stirring up their feelings. In contrast to the grave premise, their slightly clumsy and quirky antics bring laughs. Everyday settings and props, including an internet café and a billiard hall, add a retro feel. One member eating jajangmyeon at the billiard hall also catches the eye.
Illit Goes Dark, but Its Addictive Chorus Remains

At the showcase that day, Lim YoonA explained the album: “It’s about resolving to finally put an end to things with someone who keeps up an ambiguous attitude, unlike me, as I charge straight ahead.” She added, “It’s a declaration that I won’t pour my heart and time any longer into a relationship that doesn’t give back as much as I put in.”
Minju shared a behind-the-scenes story from filming, saying, “Some fans have described us as ‘Illit gone dark.’ I acted annoyed while filming the concept film. It was difficult at first, but I felt so much better once I’d done it.”
Lim YoonA added, “The song is even more addictive. A whistle sound appears throughout it,” and said, “It will captivate listeners.”
Wonhee expressed her determination, saying, “It was a song that suited my taste, so I prepared for it with confidence,” and, “I’ll work hard so we can surpass ‘It’s Me.’”
Asked about the second-half idol comeback race, they said, “It’s an honor to make a comeback alongside such wonderful artists. I think it’ll be an enjoyable spectacle for K-pop fans, too. I’m excited to see performances by so many different groups. We’ll focus on what Illit does best.” They added, “We’ll work hard on our performance so that no one misses it—and no one watches it just once.”
