【Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop, Correspondent】At the 9th Gangwon Farmers and Families Unity Gathering, which brought together about 200 members of farmers’ organizations from across Gangwon Province, 18 commendations were presented to farmers who have quietly devoted themselves to rural communities.
According to Gangwon State on the 26th, the province held the 9th Gangwon Farmers and Families Unity Gathering that day at the Gangwon Farmers’ Organizations Hall in Chuncheon, with members of farmers’ organizations from across the province and officials from relevant agencies in attendance. The gathering was organized to foster communication and unity among farmers and their organizations, recognize the hard work of farmers who have labored in the field to advance Gangwon agriculture, and boost their pride.
The event opened with a farmers’ exchange center and an exhibition hall. Pre-ceremony performances, an opening ceremony, an awards ceremony, a luncheon, recreational sports and friendly games followed in turn, giving attendees time to encourage one another and socialize.
At the opening ceremony, 18 commendations from heads of institutions and organizations, including the governor’s commendations, were presented to farmers who have dedicated themselves to the development of Gangwon agriculture and rural communities.
Major farmers’ organizations from across the province attended, including the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Federation of Farmers’ Organizations, the Korea Association of Future Farmers, the Korean Women Farmers Association, the Korean Peasants League, the Rural Leaders Association, the Rural Development Association, 4-H, the Korea New Farmers Association, the Korea Rice Farmers Association, the Korea Eco-friendly Agriculture Association, the Livestock Organizations Council, the Highland Vegetable Growers Association and the Wild Vegetable Research Association. They shared perspectives from the agricultural field and strengthened their solidarity.
Governor Woo Sang-ho said, “It is meaningful to be able to recognize, with commendations, at least, the hard work of farmers who have quietly labored in rural communities,” adding, “I will regularly sit down with farmers’ organizations, which convey firsthand perspectives from the field, to support farmers’ incomes and business stability, and pursue tangible policies that help rural communities grow sustainably.”
