【Financial News, Daegu—Reporter Kim Jang-uk】A joint effort by the Agricultural Cooperative, the Hometown Housewives' Club, Daegu City and Yeungjin College to provide rural labor assistance has drawn attention.
The Daegu Regional Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (hereafter, Daegu Nonghyup) joined Daegu City, Yeungjin College and the Daegu City Chapter of the Hometown Housewives' Club on the 23rd in visiting grape farms around Uiheung-myeon, Gunwi County, to volunteer in support of rural labor during the harvest season.
About 100 people took part in a joint effort involving the public, private and academic sectors, including Daegu Nonghyup executives and staff, Daegu City officials, Yeungjin College faculty and students, and members of the Daegu City Chapter of the Hometown Housewives' Club.
Daegu Nonghyup Director Son Yeong-min thanked the participants, saying, “We are grateful that you have come together to provide great support to farm households during this busy farming season,” and stressed, “We will continue to work closely with relevant organizations and take the lead in addressing the rural labor shortage.”
They shared the value of “Nongsim Cheonsim”—that “the farmer's heart is heaven's will”—and helped with cleanup work in greenhouse facilities in preparation for next year's grape-growing season.
The farmer who received the assistance expressed gratitude, saying, “I was at a loss about how to find workers during the harvest season, but so many people came and lent a hand, which greatly eased my worries.”
