[Financial News] L&C Bio shared clinical cases involving the use of nerve allografts and introduced its human tissue-based reconstructive solutions and capabilities in the extracellular matrix (ECM) business.
L&C Bio said on the 26th that it had participated in the 45th academic conference of the Korean Society for Microsurgery, held on the 23rd and 24th at the Gwanggaeto Hall Convention Center at Sejong University in Seoul, where it showcased key products, including MegaDerm, MegaNerve Prime, MegaFill Putty and Rituo, along with clinical cases.
The conference discussed the latest clinical insights in microsurgery, including upper- and lower-extremity trauma, nerve reconstruction, and breast and head and neck reconstruction, as well as the potential applications of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).
In particular, clinicians from Pusan National University presented results from secondary nerve reconstruction using MegaNerve Prime following severe upper-extremity trauma. An evaluation of 19 sensory nerves and 14 motor or mixed nerves in 14 patients found reported sensory recovery of S3 or higher in about 79% of the sensory nerves and recovery of motor function to M3 or higher in about 71% of the motor or mixed nerves. The case demonstrated the potential for clinical application of nerve reconstruction using nerve allografts.
MegaNerve Prime is a hydrated nerve allograft for reconstructing nerve defects. Its potential use is being explored in various areas, including peripheral nerve injuries and nerve restoration during hand and breast reconstruction.
At the exhibition, L&C Bio also introduced its human tissue-based products MegaDerm and MegaFill Putty, as well as Rituo, a particulate extracellular matrix (ECM) product. ECM is a substance that maintains tissue structure around cells and supports cellular activity.
Building on its human tissue processing technology and clinical experience, L&C Bio is expanding its existing reconstructive medical products business while developing ECM as a next-generation growth engine. Its strategy is to diversify its business portfolio by broadening the range of applications for its technology to include nerve reconstruction and skin regeneration.
An L&C Bio representative said, "We introduced medical professionals to the potential applications of MegaNerve Prime in nerve reconstruction, our human tissue-based solutions, and our ECM capabilities centered on Rituo," adding, "We will contribute to patients' functional recovery and improved quality of life by strengthening our human tissue processing technology and ECM research capabilities."
