[Financial News] Dunamu Inc., the operator of Upbit, wrapped up a quiz competition held as part of its youth financial education program and sent snack trucks to top-performing schools.
The virtual asset industry reported on the 26th that Dunamu Inc. held the 1st UpClass Junior Cup Quiz Competition from May 18 to July 3. A total of 2,603 students from 58 schools nationwide who took part in this year’s first-semester financial education program entered the competition. Four top-performing schools were selected based on factors including each school’s average score and number of participants.
In the average-score category, Incheon Jeonggak Middle School took first place, while Geoseong Middle School had the highest participation in the number-of-participants category. In the participation-rate categories for the Seoul metropolitan and non-metropolitan regions, Naechon Middle School and Yeonggwang Yeomsan Middle School were selected, respectively. Dunamu visited these schools and provided snacks to all their students. At Naechon Middle School, students from nearby elementary schools also took part in the event.
A follow-up program for community donations was also arranged. Dunamu established a donation fund totaling 12 million won, with 3 million won for each winning school, and let students decide through a vote which areas to support. Incheon Jeonggak Middle School, which chose to address gaps in health and medical care, plans to donate 3 million won to Gachon University Gil Medical Center in November.
Dunamu CEO Kyungseok Oh said, “It is important for young people to develop sound financial values and the ability to make independent judgments,” adding, “We will connect financial education with the realization of social value and expand support for future generations.”
Dunamu said in August that satisfaction with the first-half education provided through UpClass Junior had reached 96%. The company plans to provide education to 12,636 young people at 70 schools nationwide this year, and expects the cumulative number of students reached to hit 41,854 by year-end.
