[Financial News] Hanjin is expanding its logistics network in North America by opening a fulfillment center in Toronto, Canada. The company plans to meet logistics demand from K-beauty businesses that have entered the North American market by establishing local logistics infrastructure in Canada, following its expansion into the U.S.
According to the logistics industry on the 26th, Hanjin has begun operating a new fulfillment center near Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada.
After expanding its fulfillment center in Los Angeles (LA), U.S., last February, Hanjin has now established a hub in Canada as well.
The new center covers approximately 13,884 square meters (4,800 pyeong) and is close to the airport and major rail facilities, making it easy to connect air and ground transportation. It has obtained a license to operate a bonded warehouse and, in particular, has temperature and humidity controls and hygiene standards for the storage and handling of cosmetics. It has also received certification as a facility compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards under Canadian health ministry regulations. The center also holds PIP (Partners in Protection) certification, which improves cross-border logistics efficiency between the U.S. and Canada.
The Greater Toronto Area, where the center is located, is considered a major Canadian economic and logistics hub, encompassing cities such as Mississauga, Brampton and Markham. Hanjin plans to support everything from receiving goods for business-to-business (B2B) transactions to delivering orders to consumers in business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions.
Ahead of the year-end shopping season, Hanjin is also preparing for K-beauty freight volumes. It plans to apply the operational experience of its existing LA center to the Toronto center and expand its logistics services across North America by linking the two hubs.
A Hanjin representative said, “We opened a fulfillment center in Canada as well to keep pace with K-beauty’s explosive growth in the North American market,” adding, “We plan to support local logistics for Korean brands entering the North American market.”
