Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. said on the 26th that it had begun operating thynC on 342 beds at Ajou University Hospital. The system is currently used in departments including thoracic surgery and cardiology, as well as in emergency wards and integrated nursing care wards. The company plans to expand its use to up to 1,100 beds.
thynC is a system that uses wearable sensors worn by patients to measure key vital signs in real time, including electrocardiograms, heart rates, respiratory rates and oxygen saturation. Its functions for detecting and classifying falls and emergency arrhythmias alert medical staff to abnormal signs, while measurement data are automatically recorded in the electronic medical record (EMR) every 60 seconds. The system helps medical staff monitor patients’ conditions while reducing the burden of manually entering vital-sign data.
Ajou University Hospital began introducing the equipment and building the necessary infrastructure in 2025, and worked to optimize the system for clinical settings. It expanded operations in major wards starting in September this year, then broadened its use to emergency wards and other areas in October. Wearable sensors and wireless gateways enable patients’ vital signs to be monitored even as they move around the ward.
According to Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., as of October this year, thynC had been introduced at 218 medical institutions nationwide, covering a cumulative total of 20,054 beds. The company plans to expand supply, focusing on tertiary general hospitals and major regional hub hospitals.
Han Sang-wook, president of Ajou University Medical Center, said, “We expect that monitoring key vital signs in real time and detecting abnormal signs early will enhance patient safety,” adding, “Building on the results from the 342 beds currently in operation, we will pursue expanding the system to up to 1,100 beds.”
