The event was organized to help local companies find new markets and foster business exchanges by pairing an exhibition showcasing products and technologies from footwear, textile and fashion companies with fashion shows by domestic and international designer brands. This year, the expanded range of interactive content that citizens can experience and enjoy is expected to make it an industry-and-culture festival that adds popular appeal to its business-focused expertise.
The 2026 Busan Fashion Week will take place in Hall 3B of BEXCO Exhibition Center 1. A total of 15 companies with domestic brands, four with overseas brands, and nine universities based in Busan will take part, presenting 12 fashion shows over three days.
Visitors will be able to see works by domestic and international designer brands, the latest fashion trends, and creative work by the next generation of fashion talent all in one place. This year, in particular, the event will showcase content that brings the character of Busan as a maritime city into fashion.
PaePae Busan, now in its 34th edition, will also be held in Hall 2 of BEXCO Exhibition Center 1, featuring 360 companies and 380 booths. It will showcase a range of products and technologies in footwear, textiles and fashion, and support participating companies in finding new markets through consultations with domestic and international buyers.
A number of interactive activities for citizens are also planned. From the sports-related “Retro Shoes Exhibition” to the “Proper Gait Experience Zone,” exhibitions and activities spanning the past, present and future of the footwear and textile industries will introduce citizens to the value of the fashion industry.
The event will also provide opportunities to expand local brands’ access to overseas markets through international exchanges. Three companies associated with JF3, a fashion event in Jakarta, Indonesia, with which the city signed an agreement last year, will also participate in Busan Fashion Week. The city plans to use these international exchanges to foster cooperation between fashion brands in the two countries and strengthen the international competitiveness of Busan’s fashion industry.
Mayor Chun Jae-soo said, “Busan Fashion Week and PaePae Busan are platforms for showcasing the technological capabilities and design strengths of the region’s textile, fashion and footwear industries at home and abroad, and for creating new business opportunities,” adding, “I hope they will inject new vitality into local industries and serve as a stepping stone to raising their competitiveness to a new level.”[email protected] Byun Ok-hwan Reporter
