[Financial News] MiraeN said on the 26th that Park Jang-chun, senior team leader of its Textbook Business Team, had received the Minister of Education Award for helping stabilize textbook prices and reduce administrative burdens at schools.
Park received the award at the 21st 'Textbook Day' commemorative ceremony held at Seoul National University of Education on the 24th. He is a textbook publishing expert who has handled every stage—from pricing government-issued, government-approved and officially recognized textbooks to their production and supply—for about 15 years.
Park is particularly recognized for helping set reasonable textbook prices and substantially reduce inconveniences for schools. The Textbook Price Calculation Program, which he developed in 2020 while carrying out a research project commissioned by the Ministry of Education, is still used to set prices for government-issued textbooks. He also helped stabilize textbook prices by providing cost data, among other support, during recent price adjustments for textbooks based on the 2022 revised curriculum and for artificial intelligence (AI) digital textbooks.
MiraeN also introduced a supply method to ease the burden on schools of receiving and distributing textbooks. Since 2023, the company has sorted elementary school textbooks by grade, from first through sixth, before delivery, substantially reducing the administrative work schools have to do to sort and distribute them.
Park said in his acceptance remarks, “This is thanks to my colleagues, who worked together to ensure textbooks were delivered reliably to schools,” adding, “I will continue to listen to the voices of the education community and build an efficient supply system.”
Shin Kwang-soo, CEO of MiraeN, said, “This award is the result of our efforts to ensure a stable supply of textbooks and make things more convenient for schools,” adding, “We will contribute to the development of school education through high-quality educational content.”
