[Financial News] Woosung Materials announced on the 26th that it had signed a contract worth a total of 8 billion won to supply 10 eco-friendly, high-efficiency continuous generators. The company plans to complete delivery of all units by year-end through five specialist dealers.
The product incorporates patented technology called “Noise-Reduced and Mobile Continuous Generator Equipped with a Hot Water System,” which recovers waste heat generated during power generation to produce hot water at 60–70°C and thermal energy simultaneously. It can reliably supply heating and hot water alongside electricity, making it suitable for smart farms, controlled-environment horticulture, and large-scale glass greenhouses, where heating and temperature control are essential, as well as manufacturing sites that require industrial cleaning and process heat. Its key strengths are reducing the need to operate a separate boiler and improving energy efficiency.
In particular, the generator is designed to use economically viable and eco-friendly pyrolysis oil as its primary fuel, allowing it to significantly reduce fuel and operating costs compared with conventional diesel or liquid fuels. According to industry sources, pyrolysis oil for generators is reportedly around 15–30% cheaper than conventional diesel. The company expects the product to offer a cost-saving alternative for farms and businesses that continuously consume heat and electricity amid high oil prices.
It is also designed to provide a stable power supply 24 hours a day while reducing noise and mechanical load through four-array parallel continuous-operation control. Another feature is its modular design, which allows components to be separated and connected, making installation and operation and maintenance (O&M) more convenient.
This contract is the first official achievement of Woosung Materials’ engine-generator business, which it has pursued as a new growth engine. The company previously established strategic partnerships with specialist dealers and partner companies that have regional sales networks and technical response capabilities, and built a nationwide distribution and after-sales service (A/S) infrastructure at an early stage. Starting with this contract, it plans to step up its push into the next-generation distributed energy and combined heat and power markets.
According to market reports, the global diesel generator market is projected to grow to $38.09 billion (about 50.4083 trillion won) by 2034. Woosung Materials plans to work closely with specialist dealers in the Seoul metropolitan area and other key locations to complete on-site installation and commissioning of the contracted units without delay by year-end.
A company representative said, “This initial supply contract is the result of the market recognizing the superior heat-recovery efficiency of our generators and their unparalleled cost-effectiveness based on pyrolysis oil,” adding, “We will get ahead of the rapidly growing demand for eco-friendly heat and power, centered on smart farms and industrial plants, and become a leader in Korea’s distributed energy and resource-circulation power generation markets.”
