[Financial News] Seoul Housing & Urban Development Corporation (SH Corporation) has been recognized for its policy research aimed at creating a child-rearing-friendly residential environment.
SH said on the 26th that it received the Korea Craft & Design Foundation President's Award in the newly established public policy category at the '2026 Korea Public Design Awards,' held on the 23rd.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF), the Korea Public Design Awards is a leading national event that identifies and recognizes outstanding public design projects and research. This year, the newly established public policy category, which evaluates the quality of policies and systems, drew attention.
SH received high marks after submitting four key achievements to this year's competition under the theme 'Family-Friendly Housing: Creating a Home Environment Where Children Can Thrive Through Public Design.'
First, through its 'Study on Evaluation Indicators for the I-Sarang Home Certification System,' SH established criteria for assessing apartments suited to raising children, covering not only housing structures but also children's play and care facilities and the community environment. The guidelines were also cited in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2025 Guidelines for Parenting-Friendly Platforms.'
In addition, through its 'Study on Housing Mobility Criteria to Support Childcare for Families with Children in Rental Housing,' SH analyzed data from about 220,000 households and proposed practical ways to support housing moves that take into account factors such as home size, children's stages of growth, and distance from family caregivers.
SH also produced and distributed booklets such as 'Toward a Home Environment That's Good for Raising Children' to help employees provide housing services from residents' perspective, and 'A Good Home to Live in with Children, a Good Company to Work For,' which aims to foster a workplace environment that supports both work and childcare. In doing so, it organically linked policy awareness with improvements to organizational culture.
SH plans to go beyond this award and actively apply its research findings to future housing supply and management and housing welfare projects, further expanding housing support policies that families raising children can experience firsthand.
SH President Hwang Sang-ha said, "A home that's good for raising children is one with an environment where families can raise children with peace of mind." He added, "We will continue to focus the corporation's capabilities on creating residential environments where both children and parents can live happily."
