[Financial News] Franchisors can now see at a glance which company-operated and franchised stores under their banner have been subject to administrative sanctions for violations of the Food Sanitation Act and other laws.
According to the Korea Franchise Association, on the 26th the association’s Food Hygiene Education Institute built and began operating an “Administrative Sanctions Monitoring Site” to help franchisors manage food hygiene at their franchise stores.
Until now, franchisors had to check the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and each local government’s website individually to find out whether stores under their banner had faced administrative sanctions for violations of the Food Sanitation Act and other laws—a cumbersome process.
The KFA built the site to ease this inconvenience and help franchisors proactively manage food hygiene and other matters at their stores.
The site provides the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s published data on administrative sanctions against food service businesses, as well as lists of administrative sanctions from Saeol, the local-government civil complaints system, for local governments across the country. It has collected all publicly available data, including 3,018 administrative sanction records from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and lists of administrative sanctions that include 3,058 fine penalties from 205 local governments.
This means that administrative sanctions on any store nationwide—from business suspensions and corrective orders to records of fines imposed—can be checked in one place.
An association official said, “We will continue to raise the level of voluntary hygiene management in the franchise industry by regularly updating the data and improving the site’s features.”
