[Financial News] As Israel’s election on the 27th (local time) approaches, U.S. President Donald Trump has once again appealed for support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On the 25th, President Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, “Vote for Bibi Netanyahu (Bibi is Netanyahu’s nickname) as prime minister. We must finish what we started.”
Trump had previously said on the 18th, also via Truth Social, “Bibi Netanyahu has been a strong, courageous and outstanding leader despite tremendous opposition,” adding, “I offer my full and complete support for his reelection bid.” That day, he shared the post, saying, “To the people of Israel, for those who have not seen it yet, I am attaching the declaration of support I sent a week ago to your prime minister, Bibi Netanyahu.”

President Trump also touted the military achievements he had made alongside Prime Minister Netanyahu. He claimed, “As everyone knows, including our enemies, Bibi and I have won together and had a great relationship. I carried out the attack on Venezuela, one of the most successful military operations in history, but before that, we conducted Operation Midnight Hammer and prevented the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining nuclear weapons.”
He went on to say, “We carried out Operation Epic Fury,” and stressed, “Iran now has neither a navy nor an air force, and its inflation is also at 301%, leaving both its military and economy in disarray.” He added, “The naval blockade has left them unable to secure oil, and two tiers of leadership have disappeared in both the military and other areas. When you go to the polls, please remember that Bibi was an outstanding warrior prime minister.”
In the election on the 27th, about 7 million voters will elect 120 members of the Knesset (Israel’s parliament). It is the first election since Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently facing questions about his responsibility for failing to prevent the attack, as well as criticism over his long tenure in power.
