Young people aged 34 or younger can receive support for 50% of the fee for national technical qualification exams, up to three times a year. They can also use public services that offer free job training in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) or let them manage in one place information on qualifications and work experience needed for employment.
On the 26th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected and introduced three public services that ease the burden of preparing for employment as the youth employment support edition of “Allyeodeurim, Innovative Services.”
The National Technical Qualification Exam Fee Support Program covers half the exam fee when young people aged 34 or younger take exams administered by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. A total of 491 exam categories are eligible this year, including Information Processing Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and Craftsman Cook, Korean Food.
Support is available up to three times per person each year. When applicants submit their applications through Q-Net, a 50% discount on the exam fee is automatically applied at the payment stage. However, support for that year may end if the budget is exhausted.
The free online vocational training platform “STEP” offers courses in various fields, including AI and information technology (IT). It can be accessed anytime and anywhere; users can sign up on the website and select the course they want.
The “Job Competency Bank” is a service that brings together an individual's education and training history, certifications, work experience, and other information. Users can view information held across multiple institutions in one place and, based on it, obtain a “Certificate of Recognized Job Competency” for use in job applications and other purposes. Job competency information is available on the Job Competency Bank website, and certificates can be issued through Employment 24.
Noh Hong-seok, head of the Participatory Innovation Organization Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “I hope young people can develop the skills they need to adapt to a changing recruitment environment and ease the burdens they face while preparing for employment.”
