[Financial News] Amorepacific received a Presidential Commendation for contributions to the development of the renewable energy industry at the 2026 Renewable Energy Day ceremony held on the 23rd in the Grand Conference Room at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Industry sources said on the 26th that the ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and co-organized by the Korea Energy Agency and the Korea Federation of Renewable Energy Associations. It was the first official ceremony hosted by the government since Renewable Energy Day was designated a statutory commemorative day. Amorepacific was the only organization among the four Presidential Commendation recipients.
Amorepacific joined global RE100 (100% renewable energy use) in 2021, becoming the first company in Korea’s beauty industry to do so, and has increased its share of renewable electricity every year from around 5% in 2020. Last year, it completed the transition to renewable electricity company-wide, and in June received official verification from The Climate Group, the organization that operates RE100, for its progress in transitioning its global sites to renewable energy. It was the first domestic private-sector company to achieve global RE100. Amorepacific uses direct and indirect power purchase agreements (PPAs), virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs), green premiums, and purchases of renewable energy certificates. Using unused land at its sites, it generates solar power for its own use, supplying 10% of the electricity needs across all its sites.
“This award recognizes our efforts not only to achieve RE100 but also to proactively introduce new procurement methods and share our experience as the domestic renewable energy market has grown,” said Kwon Sun-cheol, executive director of Amorepacific’s Safety and Environment Division. “We will continue to expand procurement options that can make a tangible contribution to increasing renewable energy supply, and work with our partners to reduce carbon emissions throughout the supply chain.”
