[Financial News] A new apartment ventilation technology reduces airborne bacteria indoors by 99% and harmful gases by up to 96%.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction said on the 26th that the solution was developed to reduce allergy triggers in everyday life. It has two key components: a high-performance heat-recovery ventilator equipped with pollutant-reduction technology, and a room-by-room ventilation system that varies airflow from one space to another. The heat exchanger recovers thermal energy from outgoing air while exchanging indoor and outdoor air, reducing heating and cooling losses caused by ventilation.
Residents will notice the difference in the room-by-room ventilation system. When users select a particular space, the system automatically adjusts the airflow and directs outdoor air there. Its ventilation rate is at least six air changes per hour, more than 12 times the legal standard of 0.5 per hour. This means the air can be refreshed quickly in a kitchen where cooking odors linger or in a room where a child spends time.
The heat-recovery ventilator handles air purification. It uses electrostatic spray technology, which electrolyzes moisture in the air to eliminate up to 99% of airborne bacteria. It also incorporates photoionization technology, which uses a specific light source to react with a photocatalyst and reduce harmful gases by up to 96%, among other technologies. The system's performance was verified by accredited organizations including Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL). An evaluation at a demonstration home also confirmed improvements in air quality.
An official at the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute said, “As environmentally related diseases increase and interest in indoor air quality grows, the importance of housing technologies that systematically manage indoor environments is rising. We expect the ‘Allergy Care Solution’ to enable us to offer differentiated residential value.” The official added, “We will continue to develop technologies that support residents' healthy lives and everyday convenience, further expanding Neo Living's housing philosophy and values.”
