[Financial News] Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Corporation has obtained a credit rating on par with the government from international credit rating agencies.
The corporation said on the 26th that it had received overseas credit ratings of Aa2 (Stable) and AA (Stable) from Moody's Corporation and S&P Global Ratings, respectively. This was the first international credit rating assessment since the corporation was established.
Moody's Corporation and S&P Global Ratings assessed that the corporation, a policy-finance institution established under a special act to implement strategic investments between Korea and the United States, “plays an important policy role of national significance” and “maintains close ties with the government.”
Both credit rating agencies considered the corporation's links to the government—including the government's full equity contribution and its management and oversight framework—as key rating factors. They assigned the corporation a long-term credit rating on par with the government's credit rating and gave it a Stable outlook.
The corporation said, “We will use this international credit rating as an opportunity to establish our credibility in international financial markets,” adding, “We expect to be able to lay the groundwork for stable funding, including through the future issuance of Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Bonds.”
