[Financial News] Kumho Tire swept all eight rounds of the 2026 O-NE Superrace Championship, the country’s top motorsports competition, to claim the title for the second consecutive year. In particular, cars fitted with Kumho tires swept the top three positions in the final drivers’ championship standings. The company proved the technical competitiveness of its high-performance racing tires by winning three titles: tire manufacturer, driver and team.
Kumho Tire said on the 26th that it had won every race across all eight rounds of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing 6000 Class at the 2026 O-NE Superrace Championship, claiming the overall title for the second consecutive year.
Lee Chang-uk of the Kumho SL Motorsport Team, sponsored by Kumho Tire, won seven of the eight rounds this season to become driver champion for the second consecutive year. All seven victories were pole-to-wins: he started from first place in qualifying and went on to win the race.
The Kumho SL Motorsport Team also won the team championship for the second consecutive year. Kumho Tire claimed the tire manufacturer’s championship as well, completing a triple crown. In the drivers’ category, Lee Jung-woo of the same team and Hwang Jin-woo of Junfitted Racing Team finished second and third, respectively, giving cars fitted with Kumho tires all three of the top positions.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing 6000 Class is the top-tier category in which purpose-built stock cars at the highest level in Korea compete. With vehicle performance now closely matched at a high level, grip through high-speed corners, braking stability and the ability to maintain performance over long runs are considered key factors in determining race results.
This season, Kumho Tire delivered stable performance not only on dry surfaces but also in rapidly changing driving conditions, including rain during races. In particular, in wet conditions, Lee Jung-woo battled to overtake in the latter part of a race and climbed to second place, helping the Kumho SL Motorsport Team secure a one-two finish.
“I’m very happy to have recorded all seven of my wins this season as pole-to-wins and become champion for the second consecutive year,” Lee Chang-uk said. “The tires showed outstanding performance and stability in a variety of driving conditions, and thanks to them, I was able to keep achieving good results.”
“All the team members worked together with one mind, and as a result we achieved the valuable feat of winning the team championship for the second consecutive year,” said Shin Young-hak, director of the Kumho SL Motorsport Team. “We will continue to further strengthen the competitiveness of both the team and the tires and build on our success.”
“It is meaningful to have demonstrated the technology and competitiveness of our racing tires by winning every race across all eight rounds this season,” said Yoon Min-seok, an executive director in charge of global marketing at Kumho Tire. “We will continue to improve tire technology through motorsports and apply it to the development of high-performance products, strengthening our technological competitiveness in global markets.”
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire is expanding its role as an official tire supplier at global motorsports competitions, including the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour. Its strategy is to use the technology and data accumulated through racing to develop high-performance tires.
