[Financial News] Hyundai Glovis is pursuing logistics cooperation with Shopee, Southeast Asia’s largest online platform, which has more than 700 million users. Through Shopee, Hyundai Glovis is serving as a bridge for K-beauty.
Hyundai Glovis said on the 26th that it has been conducting logistics business since this month under a partnership with Shopee Korea. It is paving the way for Korean cosmetics bound for Shopee and helping K-beauty gain a foothold in local markets.
The logistics partnership is an end-to-end (E2E) service designed to help domestic cosmetics brands enter global e-commerce markets. It integrates the entire supply chain through a single point of contact, from loading cargo in Korea to international air and sea transport, import and export customs clearance, local permits and approvals, and fulfillment (comprehensive logistics outsourcing).
Shopee is the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan and has established a presence in Latin America, including Brazil, bringing its user base to around 700 million. Korean cosmetics, whose popularity is soaring worldwide, are accounting for a growing share of sales. This is why Shopee has joined forces with Hyundai Glovis in logistics.
With Hyundai Glovis launching a one-stop service, businesses selling on Shopee expect delivery times to shorten and their logistics burden to ease. Bottlenecks have often arisen for Korean cosmetics because different companies handled each stage of the logistics process. The plan is to first improve logistics in Southeast Asia, then expand the service to Latin America, including Brazil, where Shopee has considerable influence.
Hyundai Glovis expects this business to boost sales from companies outside Hyundai Motor Group. It aims to reach total revenue of 40 trillion won by 2030 and grow non-affiliate sales to the 10-trillion-won range, increasing their share to 40%. Logistics and distribution revenue has recently been on the rise alongside an increase in shipments of cars made in China.
A Hyundai Glovis official said, “Shopee’s powerful platform influence and Hyundai Glovis’s global E2E logistics network, including its overseas subsidiaries in various countries, will combine to create the best possible synergy. We will work to ensure that logistics is no longer a cost in the process of domestic brands expanding globally, but a powerful competitive weapon in the form of K-logistics.”
