That day, SK hynix disclosed: “Our overseas subsidiary Solidigm has been reviewing various financing options to expand production capacity and strengthen competitiveness. However, after taking into account overall capital market conditions, among other factors, it has decided to suspend its review of pre-IPO investment and an initial public offering (IPO).” Photo: Yonhap News Agency

[Financial News] SK hynix said there was no decision on reports that it was pursuing a special dividend worth 16 trillion won, using gains from its stake in Japan’s Kioxia.
According to DART, the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system, SK hynix disclosed on the 26th that it was reviewing various shareholder return measures to enhance shareholder value, but that nothing had been finalized so far.
Earlier, reports said SK hynix was pursuing a plan to pay 16 trillion won—80% of the approximately 20 trillion won in gains it secured from selling its stake in Kioxia—as a special dividend. That would be more than seven times the total dividends paid last year.
SK hynix plans to announce additional shareholder return measures at its third-quarter earnings presentation on the 28th, following a board resolution. It also designated that date as the scheduled date for a further disclosure on the matter.
Meanwhile, in 2018, SK hynix invested approximately 4 trillion won in Kioxia through a consortium led by U.S.-based Bain Capital. Recovery of the investment has progressed following Bain Capital’s sale of its stake this year, and SK hynix currently holds convertible bonds (CBs) linked to its stake in Kioxia.
