[Financial News] DB HiTek Co., Ltd. has strengthened its quality competitiveness in automotive semiconductors by renewing its certification to 'IATF 16949,' the international quality management system standard for the automotive industry. As automotive semiconductors become increasingly important with the electrification and digitalization of the automotive industry, the company aims to improve profitability by increasing the share of high-value-added products.
DB HiTek Co., Ltd. said on the 26th that it had passed IATF 16949 renewal audits conducted separately at its Bucheon and Sangwoo campuses. The certification covers all areas of semiconductor wafer foundry manufacturing (contract manufacturing of semiconductors).
IATF 16949 is an international quality management system standard for the automotive industry, established by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF). It sets out requirements for establishing and maintaining a consistent quality control system throughout the automotive parts supply chain. Automotive semiconductors must operate reliably even in harsh driving conditions, such as extreme temperatures and vibration, and therefore require high levels of quality and reliability.
DB HiTek Co., Ltd. first obtained 'ISO/TS 16949,' the predecessor to IATF 16949, in 2003, becoming the first company in Korea's foundry industry to do so. It has renewed the certification every three years since.
In particular, to improve the quality and reliability of its automotive semiconductors, the company operates its own Automotive Program, developed on the basis of IATF 16949 certification. It carries out systematic quality management activities, applying rigorous process qualification assessments and enhanced quality control standards, and retaining quality-related records for at least 25 years. It also addresses the automotive industry's quality requirements through defect analysis and continuous process improvement.
DB HiTek Co., Ltd. is gradually increasing the share of its business accounted for by industrial and automotive semiconductors, which have higher added value than semiconductors for home appliances and mobile devices. The company plans to use this certification renewal to build customer trust in its automotive semiconductor business and improve profitability by strengthening a business structure centered on high-value-added products.
A DB HiTek Co., Ltd. official said, "This certification renewal demonstrates that DB HiTek Co., Ltd.'s quality management system is at a global level," adding, "We will continue to manage our quality system more meticulously and improve it on an ongoing basis to further strengthen customer trust."
